How much mulch does my yard need?
A good rule of thumb is one cubic yard per 100 square feet of bed at a 3-inch depth. We measure your beds during the estimate so you only pay for what the property actually needs — the quantity is listed on your quote.
Mulch or pine straw — which should I choose?
Both work well here. Hardwood mulch holds moisture and gives defined beds a finished look; pine straw is economical, looks natural under pines and azaleas, and refreshes quickly. Many York County properties use both — mulch up front, straw in naturalized areas. We're happy to recommend based on your photos.
When's the best time to install?
Early spring (March–April) is the most popular window, before summer heat sets in. A lighter fall refresh keeps beds sharp through the holidays. Pine straw installs nearly year-round.
Do you remove the old mulch first?
Usually old mulch gets turned and topped, which is better for the soil and your budget. If beds have been over-built against siding or tree trunks, we'll recommend removal and quote it as its own line item — no surprises on the invoice.
